I have been told all my life, since I was very little “you can’t save the world”, every time I donated money to those little cans in the bodega that had the picture of the injured cats on them, every time I gave money to a homeless person, every time I donated my time to a shelter or domestic violence home, every single time I spoke about how I envisioned the world will be, every term paper I ever wrote for counseling, all the many times I sacrificed my last ounce of energy and money into helping a friend without ever thinking twice about myself, I was ALWAYS told “you can’t save the world”; for a while I believed it, I bought it, hook, line and sinker, took it and made my reality of it, while secretly still trying to nurture the little hope that was left in me, continuously helping others selflessly.
Now more than ever, I stand firm in my endeavors and will not allow the swaying of my dreams, who is anyone to tell me what my limitations are? If you are too scared to go far, well that’s you, but me, my plans reach as far as the universe, it is my intentions to help others in all the many ways I can and will make the necessary moves to ensure that everyone everywhere has what they need to positively save themselves. Who says I can’t save the world? ~Will Rivera
