“What makes you vulnerable makes you beautiful.” -Brené Brown

I wholeheartedly agree with this quote, I truly believe we are here to experience connections; connecting to people, plants, animals, energy, and everything we experience is a type of connection. In order to really experience each connection fully and in whole truth we must allow ourselves to be vulnerable; to be vulnerable is to be free.

Although be vulnerable is extremely beneficial and necessary for our well being, it also runs a grave risk and requires us to face some fears directly head on because it opens us up to the possibility of pain, we all know when we let our guards down we allow other people an open window to hurt us, unintentionally or otherwise. We all know deep down though that the pain of closing ourselves and shutting everyone out is far more dangerous than the risks involved with opening up. No matter how hard you try no one can get away from feeling vulnerable as some point in our lives, vulnerability is a positive feeling, it’s a blessing, and if we work hard to perceive it as an opportunity for a new experience; then no matter what the outcome we can turn that situation into something exciting and fulfilling, and receive the lesson and the blessing.

I am at my most confidant and comfortable zone when I am in control, but I know all too well by doing this I am closed to any new experiences, and being in my safe zone, although it provides a great sense of security, it closes me off to any new connections; we cannot receive what which we are not open to. Being vulnerable gives us all a break from trying to pretend we don’t have any flaws, it allows us to open and show our authentic selves with the risk of not knowing how others will react to it. Understand that feeling vulnerable allows us to be wide open to receive some of the greatest blessings and experiences the universe can bring to us, the deeper the abyss of vulnerability, the greater the space we create for every blessing and experience to fill.
